Literature Text
As said in Shakespeare's "Hamlet", one bares two faces:
The one that God gave you...
And the one that you show to the world.
Within each person is something hidden, locked away.
How do we enter this place so skillfully guarded?
Do we really know the ones we hold dear?
Or do we all have something left untold?
The one that God gave you...
And the one that you show to the world.
Within each person is something hidden, locked away.
How do we enter this place so skillfully guarded?
Do we really know the ones we hold dear?
Or do we all have something left untold?

Successor
Thrown in a box, shunned from the world.
(Placed on a pedestal, shown off to the world.)
Grey dust collected at the very top, acting as a soft blanket, comforting lonely days.
(Spotlights beaming on you, accompanied by astonished gazes, marveling over your glory.)
Days drag on when everything's this dark.
(They say time flies when you're having fun.)
Tallies marked on the box for each day completed.
(You pray for these days to never end.)
One more drab day to survive, with happiness deprived.
(A bright and early morning, with smiles bound to transpire.)
Energy depleting, sanity dwindling slowly.
(Shining vivid light, pores leaking

Synesthesia Dream
Little girl dancing
Through a winter night
Violin candles in ev'ry window-pane
Harpsichord snowflakes settle in her hair
Delicate
Filigree
Soot-black tree branches oboe-deep rise
Stretching their fingers to the upright-bass clouds
Singing, sighing, soprano
Holly
Red within the white
Flashing moonbeams breaking through
Reflect upon the frozen lake
Weeping like a bassoon
And she must weep, too
Soaring spirit
Buoyed up
On the wings of her eternal symphony
Her private
Her secret
Her holy
Music in her head
No one else can ever know
The little paradise inside her head
The forever flow of ever flow of sacred always music
Literature
The Emptiness
The Emptiness
It's too cold in here
Sadness taints the air
All too painfully clear
In my world of despair
The space is too vast
A dark and empty void
My resolve fading fast
A misery I can't avoid
It echoes off the wall
Rebounding in my mind
Why did I have to fall?
To only be left behind
In the night it hides
The shadows closing in
Where a misery resides
Hurting under my skin
My world lies in dust
Abandoned and decaying
I am trying to adjust
The misery is staying
Staining the surfaces
In a cruel oppression
Those haunting faces
Fuelling my depression
Standing in that crowd
One figure stands apart
Her voice echoes alou

Nicely done--this is short, sweet, and to the point. I love the indentation, and the reverence to Hamlet is good, too. It doesn't hurt that I am a sucker for just about anything Shakespeare.
I am giving this piece the "okay" to be featured in #iWriteToInspire.
Keep up the good work!
